Microphones caught furious Andy Murray row with Fabio Fognini that continued in locker room

Andy Murray is a hugely emotional character on the tennis court and that was perfectly summed up by his furious row with Fabio Fognini in 2019.

The pair were involved in a bad tempered clash during the Shanghai Masters as both lost their cool.

The bust up started towards then end of the match when the Italian seemingly shouted out to put Murray off during a crucial point.

Fognini then told the three-time Grand Slam winner to stop complaining, with the Brit urging the umpire to restore some order.

"He shouts and then tells me don't look at me," Murray said. "He just shouted in the middle of the point."

Murray was then heard telling his opponent to 'shut up' several times.

He added: "You say the same to everyone.

"Mate, you say the same to everyone no matter who you're playing."

Fognini then went on to win the match by a final set tiebreak, and the row between the pair did not stop there.

The Times reported that their arguments continued into the locker room.

They had a heated exchange in front of other players and officials, with neither wanting to back down.

Speaking after the incident, Murray said: "Someone made a noise, I didn't know who made the noise, I looked in the direction of where the noise came from.

"He then told me, 'Stop looking at me, what are you looking at me for?'

"I was like, 'I was just about to hit a shot and someone made a noise'. He then told me to stop looking at him.

"He told me to stop complaining, to have a sense of humour. I wanted to know where the sound came from and it came from him, which you're not allowed to do.

"It's against the rules, it's hindrance, you shouldn't do it. But he said I should have a sense of humour about that but in that moment neither of us were in a joking, laughing kind of mood."

Fognini himself is a doubt for Wimbledon this year after he missed an anti-doping test.

The Italian attended the Champions League final to see Inter Milan, the club he supports, lose to Man City.

But at the same time doping officials turned up at his house and he was nowhere to be found.
